Final Founder Installs his Successor
posted on 06 December 2017
Friday 1st December saw some 37 Brethren muster in the Lodge Room for the Installation of W. Bro. David Crump, PPrSGD (Oxon).
The outgoing WM, W. Bro. LACM Denis Woodhams, PPrSGD (Warks), delivered the Installation Ceremony in an interesting way using certainly, Warwickshire, Hampshire, (mainly Portsmouth) and Yates Wine Lodge Workings which if nothing else kept the assembled Brethren interested.
Having thanked his Officers of the year for their support the Installing Master was eventually issued with a WM’s Year Bar to add to his Founders Jewel.
The Provincial Team under the leadership of W. Bro. P. V Firmiger, PPrSGW, accompanied by W. Bro. M Lawrence, Prov Senior Warden, M. Dykes, Prov. Warden acting as Prov Junior Warden and escorted by W. Bro, P. Goalby, did, as always, deliver excellent addresses and the Master at Arms could only Fine them for their expertise.
The incoming Master Installed the majority of his Officers for the year but it was disappointing to find that the majority of the more Junior Office Bearers and Brethren were absent.
Towards the end of the Meeting the Charity Steward presented a cheque to the Presiding Officer for £1,000 in favour of the 2022 Charity Appeal. As always the Festive Board proved extremely convivial. Tots were sunk, “Splice the Mainbrace” was called and the wine and grog flowed freely matched by the excellent quality of the food.
All in all a very good evening and the guests once again left once again having thoroughly enjoyed their evening with the Royal Navy and Royal Marines.
