WHELKS

Ombersley Golf Club

Tuesday 14th November saw a brave and well wrapped up band of originally 7 and later 8 turn up at Ombersley for the Final Game of the Season, 3 Clubs and a Putter.

After a Toast, Marmalade and Coffee Breakfast we set off from the 1st Tee.

It was interesting to note the various Clubs each individual had picked to play with and even more interesting to see Ian F using his Driver both from the light rough and off the fairway with some remarkable results.

It was a pleasure to once again welcome both Dave Ivers and Paul Battle to join us and we do hope they will consider swelling our regular ranks next season.

With Hot Soup served on the 10th Tee and the weather holding up well we eventually managed to find our way back to the Club House and enjoy a Full English Breakfast.

The results once again validated our harsh handicap system given that all 8 players were within 4 points of each other. Indeed 4 Cards all returned 17 Points which included 1 Disqualification (only played 15 Holes), and 1 Visitor.

On count-back the Winner was Roger Fennell with Rick Abbotts runner up and David Ivers winning the Visitors. Both of our victors will of course have 1 stroke taken off their current Handicaps.

An enjoyable and fun day played in great spirits and we now all look forward to our Presentation Dinner at Churchill & Blakedown Golf Club on 16th December.
