New Initiate

At our Lodge meeting on Friday 28th January 2022, the Worshipful Master of White Ensign Lodge, W.Bro. WO1 Glyn Cardy was delighted to welcome our candidate for initiation into Freemasonry Mr Lee Taylor.  Following a wonderful initiation ceremony, the brethren of White Ensign welcomed Bro. Lee Taylor into the lodge.  On conclusion of the lodge business, both brethren of White Ensign and our visiting brethren retired to the mess deck for a thoroughly enjoyable Festive board.

The MEZ is finally installed.

On Tuesday 7th September, 14 Members and 3 Visiting Companions mustered at Redditch Masonic Hall to conduct the installation of our MEZ, E. Comp. David Crump, who should have been Installed in December 2019 but due to Emergency Hospitalisation, and then the impact of the pandemic, meant that this was the first opportunity to Proclaim the Second and Third Principals and Install E. Comp. David into the Chair. A task which was very well conducted by the outgoing MEZ E. Comp. Frank Walters, PPrGSoj.

It was also unique in that the Founder MEZ of the Chapter and Past Third Provincial Grand Principal, E. Comp. Ian Fothergill, PGStB, PPrGJ, had the honour of acting as the Presiding Officer under the watchful eye of E. Comp. Keith Evans, PGStB, Provincial Third Grand Principal, the Chapter DC, who was also the Founding Second Principal of the Chapter.

On completion of the work in the Temple, the Companions retired to enjoy each other’s company with the usual Tot at a Festive Board Buffet.

Super Social Sunday

Sunday 15th August saw some 80 Brethren, Partners and Friends gather to enjoy a Pig Roast at the excellent new facility provided by Bro. Chris Mason and his wife Sandra at their premises near Ombersley.

This was the first occasion for the Lodge to meet socially in person, since the Sunday Lunch held on 16th March 2020.

Despite this, however, the Lodge held three On-Line Virtual Events to celebrate Trafalgar Night, Burns Night and the Triple Celebration of St. George’s Day, Shakespeare’s Birthday and the Launch of the Asparagus season.

The Worshipful Master, W. Bro. Ian Fothergill, in welcoming everybody, remarked on the exceptional achievement made by the Lodge in their Charity giving during the lockdown at these events, not forgetting firstly Bro. Martin Carver’s excellent efforts in raising £3,500 for the NHS, with his half marathons around the Worcestershire and Birmingham NHS Trust Hospitals; for which he received a Certificate of Appreciation from the MW The Grand Master, HRH The Duke of Kent; the £3,250 raised in support of Military Veterans and Reservists donated to PTSD Resolution UK and of course the £2,500 raised towards our 2022 Festival target. A total sum of £10,000.

He then stated that the proceeds of today’s magnificent Raffle, organised by W. Bro. Ian and Vikki Hart would be our final donation to PTSD Resolution. It resulted in obtaining a further £775. This means that the Lodge has been able to support 6+ individuals from within North Worcestershire to obtain the necessary treatment, which costs £650 per course.

It was a splendid day and we now look forward to our next Social Event, Sunday Lunch at Alderson House Warwick on Sunday 17th October and our first Regular Lodge Meeting, Trafalgar Night, on Friday 29th October.
