At the meeting of the Lodge on Friday 29th January W. Bro. Robert L Sweeting, P.Pr.G.Swd.B was presented with his 50Year Certificate in Freemasonry by the Worshipful Assistant Provincial Grand Master Keith M Evans, P.J.G.D.

The presentation saw an introduction covering Bob’s Civilian and Work life by W. Bro. Ian Fothergill, P.Pr.S.G.W. and he then handed over to the A.P.GM. to cover Bob’s Masonic career and to make the presentation. This was greeted with acclaim by all the Brethren present. On completion Bob warmly thanked everyone he could think of but, before he could sit down, W. Bro. Keith pulled a letter out of his top pocket addressed to Bob which he opened, identified it was from the RW Provincial Grand Master, RW Bro. Robert C Vaughan and read the contents, which thanked Bob for his valuable services to Freemasonry in general and to White Ensign Lodge in particular, were he has previously served as Treasurer for 14 years and then Chaplain, and confirmed that with Immediate Effect Bob was promoted to the rank of Past Provincial Junior Grand Warden. This was very warmly greeted by the Brethren present.

The evening continued with the “Raising” of Bro. CPO MEM Garry Carter in an excellent ceremony conducted by W.Bro’s WO1 Tom Kennedy, who had served with Garry in the Submarine Service, and Len Venables.

On completion the Brethren retired to the Mess Deck to enjoy their Tots, an excellent meal and extremely convivial company.
