Friday 24th April saw the Lodge hold an Emergency Meeting under Dispensation from the RW Provincial Grand Master to enable us to conduct the Raising of the first of our three newest Members.
Bro. John A Pace completed his journey through the Craft ceremonies with a number of Past Masters contributing to the event.
The WM having opened the Lodge, he then passed the gavel to W. Bro. WO1 Tom Kennedy P.Pro.J.G.W. (Warks) to conduct the 1st Part, he in turn handed the gavel to W. Bro. Sgt (S) Ian Fothergill, P.Pro.S.G.W., LGR to conduct the 2nd Part. He in turn was very ably assisted by W. Bro. Joseph Khalil-Marzouk, P.Pro.J.G.W. who gave an explanation of the Apron and W. Bro. WE(LET) Martin Green our DC gave an excellent Charge after Passing.
Bro. John’s regalia has significant historical interest to the Lodge as it was first presented to Bro. AB Tom Whitehead in 1997. Tom sadly “Crossed the Bar” a few years ago and had served as the Lodge “Rum Bosun” for some 12 years. John also received from W. Bro. Ian, Tom’s Ritual Book which W. Bro.Ian had presented to Tom in January 1997 when he was occupying the Secretary’s Chair.
Some 47 Members and Brethren Taking Passage enjoyed a very well conducted Ceremony and a suitable Festive Board on conclusion.
During the Festive Board some £250 was raised for Charity which was increased to £350 when W. Bro. Ian auctioned a set of Craft and RA Chapter Cufflinks and Tie clip that had been owned by W. Bro. Sto. 1 Frank Grant, BEM ,who so sadly “Crossed the Bar” just before Christmas last year.
