Lodge Chapter WHELKS
Tuesday 14th April, a beautiful Spring day saw the Members of the Society turning out for the second game of the season at Bromsgrove Golf Club.
Following the traditional bacon sandwich and a small bucket of balls on the Driving Range it was off to the First Tee. What a “hard day at the office” it proved to be. The Course always presents its own degree of difficulty and many found it more than they could comfortably handle. But Barrie ”Bones” Simpson proved that his front nine score at Ombersley was not a fluke and he managed to win by 2 Points. Well done Barrie and welcome to your new Handicap of 16.
Martyn Davies was the only player who managed to get on the Par 3 11th which was the “Nearest the Pin” hole, he walked away with the money, but, being the gentleman that he is he put it over the Bar in the Clubhouse on completion.
Following an excellent evening meal which served as compensation for most of us it was off home looking forward to our next game at Cleobury Mortimer Golf Club on Tuesday 12th May.
Anyone reading and following the WHELKS is most welcome to come and play as a Visitor and see what a friendly Society we are with of course the usual Services banter which keeps everyone on their toes.
If you would like to play please contact our Secretary / Treasurer Bob Sweeting
