 Reign 26 June 1483 – 22 August 1485

On Thursday, March 26th, King Richard III will be re-interred in Leicester. I am pleased to report that our Bro. Arthur Williams along with colleague and presenter Jon Snow will be covering this historic event for Channel 4. I am sure we all congratulate Arthur and look forward to another excellent presentation. If it is anything like the one he did for WW1Heroes it will be superb.

Richard was the last Yorkist king of England, he died at the Battle of Bosworth, the outcome of which ended the Wars of the Roses. He is remembered also because of the disappearance of his young nephews.

The painting is the earliest surviving portrait of Richard (c.1520, after a lost original) formerly belonging to the Paston family (Society of Antiquaries, London).

King Richard III - Reign 26 June 1483 – 22 August 1485, Coronation 6 July 1483, Predecessor Edward V, Successor Henry VII.
