Lord Nelson, Trafalgar Night

On Friday 31st October White Ensign Lodge once again celebrated their traditional "Trafalgar Night." With a full house of 80 Brethren including RW Brother Lt. Col. Sandy Stewart TD PGM for the Province of Staffordshire, our own APGM, W. Bro. Keith Evans PJGD, and with Brethren from Per Mare Per Terram Lodge, Chatham, St. Cecilia Lodge, Somerset, some 10 Rulers from other Lodges, Chapters and other Masonic Orders and numerous other visitors from far and wide the evening commenced with an excellent 2nd Degree Ceremony Passing Bro. John Pace followed by the usual "unique" festivities on the "Mess Deck", suitably adorned with bunting. The toast to the "Immortal Memory" was given by W. Bro. Leading Aircrewman Bill Southgate, RN, PGStB, and the "Fines" session from the Master at Arms once again kept the Brethren on their toes.

The Charity Collection and Auction raised the magnificent sum of £700 and in addition the Brethren from Per Mare Per Terram Lodge, accompanied by the WM from White Ensign Lodge Gillingham, presented the Lodge Charity Account with a cheque for £150 in favour of the Royal Marine Charitable Trust Fund "At least 350", in commemoration of the 350th Birthday of the Royal Marines on 28th October. This sum, supported by £150 from White Ensign Chapter has enabled the Lodge to forward a cheque for £1664 (the year they were formed) to the RMCTF. W. Bro. Sgt Ian Fothergill, one of the 350 Serving or Former Royal Marines selected to participate in this appeal, was delighted with the result and gave his sincere thanks to all concerned.

An extremely enjoyable and successful evening was enjoyed by all with "Lights Out" being piped at 2315.

We now look forward to our Installation Meeting on Friday 5th December (Note the change of Date).
