WETS enjoy Trafalgar Day in Portsmouth
posted on 26 October 2014
Tuesday 21st October 2014, 209 years after the famous battle, saw a Mini Bus full of Brethren and WAGS travelling to Portsmouth .
The visit commenced at the Royal Marines Museum in Eastney where the Royals are celebrating 350 years since their formation on 28th October 1664. After a sandwich lunch and excellent visit the group then moved off to the Bear Hotel at Havant; there was a diversion vis Tesco’s as the driver had forgotten his black shoes!!!!
Once booked in the Brethren prepared themselves for their visit to RM Portsmouth Lodge No. 6423and the Ladies for their evening meal. Our visit to RM Portsmouth Lodge proved to be an excellent evening and we were “Royally” entertained.
We then returned to team up with our Ladies who had had a very enjoyable evening themselves.
On Wednesday morning we set off for the Historic Dockyard and most of us concentrated on visiting HMS Warrior and The Mary Rose Museum, both of which proved to be tremendously worthwhile. Our WM, being a “civvy” went off with his lady to get in what he called some “Sea Time” but we assured him that a trip round Pompey Harbour did not qualify even though he asked the Captain for his “Tot”.
The next WETS Trip is to RM Plymouth Lodge on 6th November.
